FAQ — Left Turn Hat Co.
Frequently asked questions

Honest answers.

We believe clarity builds more trust than persuasion. Here's everything we know — including what we're still learning.

Every hat we make starts with one rule: if we've seen it before, we don't make it. That applies to colorways, materials, silhouettes, and adornments. Nothing we produce exists to satisfy a trend cycle.

We work in small batches using rare materials and hand-finished details. Once a design sells through, it's gone — we don't restock it in the same form. What you own is genuinely yours alone.

Mass production optimizes for volume. We optimize for the question: "Will she still love this in ten years?"

No. Our hats are produced in limited runs with no standard colorways or repeat patterns. We don't use factory templates or commodity materials.

Small-batch production is not a marketing phrase for us — it's the operating constraint that protects the originality of every piece. It also means we can be deliberate about quality in ways that scale manufacturing simply can't.

We work primarily in handcrafted straw and wool fedora — materials chosen for durability and character, not decoration alone. Our straw styles are moisture-resistant and built for long-term wear. Our wool fedoras hold their shape over years of use.

Every adornment — bands, pins, trims — is hand-finished and selected specifically for each design. You won't find the same materials used across different pieces.

We don't accept custom orders — and this is intentional, not a limitation.

Our designer Tammi's creative vision is the product. The moment we start making "the same hat in black," we become a different kind of company — one making commodity products. We protect originality by keeping design decisions entirely internal.

If the design exists, it exists as it is. If it doesn't, it may in a future collection.

Wrap a soft measuring tape (or a piece of string) around the widest part of your head — just above your ears and about a finger-width above your eyebrows. Measure in centimeters.

Small: 54–55 cm  |  Medium: 56–57 cm  |  Large: 58–59 cm  |  XL: 60–61 cm

When between sizes: size up for straw hats (they don't stretch), size down for wool fedora(they conform to your head over time).

Still unsure? Contact us — we'll help you find the right fit before you order.

Our hats are moisture-resistant, not waterproof. They can handle light exposure — a light drizzle, coastal air, humidity — without damage. We're honest about this distinction because we'd rather you know the truth than be disappointed.

If caught in heavy rain, let the hat air-dry naturally on a flat surface or hat stand. Never use a hair dryer or direct heat. For full hat care guidance, see our Hat Care page.

"Trust is built by clarity, not persuasion."
Left Turn Hat Co. — Brand Principles

Every Left Turn hat comes with complimentary repairs for manufacturer defects and normal wear for up to 25 years from purchase. You ship the hat to us. We handle the repair. You cover return shipping.

This program exists because we believe in the product. If we weren't confident a hat could last that long, we wouldn't offer to stand behind it. The repair program is the economic proof of our quality commitment — not a marketing line.

Covered: Normal wear over time, shape retention issues, adornment reattachment, manufacturer defects in stitching or construction, brim reshaping from regular use.

Not covered: Damage caused by pets, intentional misuse, improper storage, water saturation, or alterations made by a third party.

We're straightforward about this because we want the program to be genuinely useful — not fine-print theater.

Reach out to us at our contact page before shipping anything. Tell us what the issue is and include your order number. We'll confirm the repair is covered and give you the shipping address.

Pack the hat carefully — use the original box if you still have it, or a rigid box that prevents crushing. We're not responsible for damage incurred during shipping to us.

Because we believe in repair over replacement. The fashion industry profits from things wearing out and being replaced. We've built the opposite model — we make more money when you love your hat for years and tell people about it than when you buy another one.

A hat you own for 25 years and repair twice is a better hat story than a hat you replace every three seasons. That story is also our best marketing.

In-stock hats ship the same day when ordered before our cutoff time. We're transparent about timelines — you'll receive tracking as soon as the label is created.

We don't hold orders or batch-ship. When you order, we move.

Please review our full Return Policy page for complete details. We've written it in plain language — no fine print designed to confuse.

Our general approach: if something is wrong with the product, we make it right. If you simply changed your mind, we'll work with you as fairly as we can. We treat every return conversation the way we'd want to be treated.

Probably not in the same form. Small-batch production means once a design sells through, it's gone. We won't restock it in the same colorway or with the same adornments — that would undermine the rarity that makes it worth owning.

We may revisit a silhouette in a completely different expression in a future collection. But the design you saw? That chapter is closed.

The honest advice: when something speaks to you, don't wait.

Yes. We support multiple currencies and ship to a wide range of countries. Shipping rates and delivery timelines vary by destination and are calculated at checkout.

For international orders, the customer is responsible for any applicable import duties or customs fees — we're not able to predict or absorb those costs.

We're in the middle of a deliberate rebrand from Goosebump Hats to Left Turn Hat Co. — and we're doing it the honest way, without pretending it didn't happen.

The craftsmanship, the people, and the standards are identical. Same hands. Same hats. Same commitment. The name simply evolved to better reflect who we've become and where we're going.

If you bought under Goosebump Hats, your purchase is fully covered under the Left Turn Hat Co. repair and return programs. Nothing changes for you.

All hats are designed by Tammi, our head of design and creative authority. She owns every material decision, every silhouette, and every adornment. Her singular rule: if she's seen it before, she doesn't make it.

There's no design committee. No trend report. No "what's selling this season." Just a designer with a very clear point of view and the discipline to protect it.

Honestly? Not for everyone — and we mean that without apology.

Left Turn is for the woman who buys fewer things but better things. Who values owning something no one else has over owning something trendy. Who asks "will I still love this in ten years?" before spending.

If price is the primary question, we're probably not the right fit. Our hats are priced to reflect genuine material quality, small-batch production, and a 25-year repair commitment. The customer who gets that doesn't need us to justify it.

If that sounds like you — welcome.

We appreciate you asking rather than assuming. Reach out through our contact page and we'll give you a direct, honest answer.
